Samsung is the leading LED television manufacturer as they were the first company to bring LED TVs to market. They also have the largest range of LED televisions, but this could change as other manufacturers enter the market aggressively in 2010. This short guide will help you understand the difference between the various ranges of Samsung LED TVs.
Samsung LED TV 6000 Series
The Samsung 6000 range or the 6 series is the cheapest entry level range of Samsung LED TVs. These televisions represent excellent value for money for those who want to benefit from the latest technology, the ultra-thin designs and the energy saving benefits.
Samsung 6 Series LED TVs all have four HDMI ports, USB connectivity to allow you to view picture and movies from a digital camera and of course they all have integrated Freeview tuners and support 1080p high-definition playback.

Samsung LED TV 7000 Series
The 7000 range or the Samsung 7 Series is the mid-market LED TV range, cheaper than the 8000 series and more expensive than the 6000 series.
Unusally for Samsung, the 7 series comes in two separate colours. The models with 7000 in the model number have a “platinum black” bezel whereas the ones with a 7020 designation have a “rose black” bezel. The latter is only available from PC World, Dixons, Currys and Pixmania.
The Samsung 7 Series LED TVs are much more than just televisions. They let you view the internet and provide wireless connectivity with features such as Wireless DLNA, Internet@TV and Content Library.
The almost perfect balance between price and features makes the Series 7 TVs popular with consumers.
Samsung LED TV 8000 Series
The Samsung series 8 is their top of the range LED TVs with the best specification and of course the highest price tags. The Samsung 8 Series LED TVs have the fastest refresh rate and the highest contrast ratio giving the smoothest picture and the darkest blacks. These televisions are for those who do not like to compromise on quality and want the very best Samsung LED TV.
This range of TVs has all the same multimedia and connectivity features found in the Samsung 7 series, with the added advantage of better picture quality.
Samsung Model Numbers Explained
The model numbers indicate the region, screen size and the series e.g. UE32B6000
UE – The first two letters indicate the region UE is for Europe and UN is for North America.
32 – The next two numbers indicate the screen size in inches. In the example, the screen size is 32”, but can be 37”, 40”, 46” or 55”.
B – Samsung have not published the meaning of the letter, so you can ignore that.
6000 – Finally, the last four digits indicate what series the television is from. In this case it is a Samsung 6000 series and this is sometimes referred to as 6 series. The other series are currently 7000 and 8000, but expect more in the future.
